At least one celebrity better watch his back, or tough guy author James Frey might give him a thunderous beatdown, according to a book to be released next month by Doubleday.
In the forthcoming addiction memoir "A Million Little Pieces," author James Frey relates the story of a famous rock star speaking to rehabbers about his years of wild drug and alcohol abuse, including five thousand dollars worth of cocaine and heroin a day, with hefty portions of valium and alcohol thrown in for good measure.
Our best hint who this mystery rocker might be? Mr. Frey mentions "national obsession with his lips" that brings at least one famous drug-abusing front man to mind.
Whoever he is, he better be careful around self-appointed guardian of the truth Mr. Frey. He writes he would "chase this Chump [sic] Motherf***er down and give him a beating." Drug addiction is serious business and "to make light of it, brag about it, or revel in the mock glory of it...is heresy. The truth is all that matters."
In his searing, down-and-dirty memoir of addiction and recovery, Mr. Frey comes across as the kind of dude you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. Even a Mafioso friend from rehab calls him scary.
